News in brief of the week: At the races in Grobnik, Croatia, the Finnish BMW duo Päivärinta/Kainulainen held onto the overall lead in the Sidecar World Championship; in the Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship, Roland Resch and Michal Šembera celebrated their next victories on their BMW S 1000 RRs. In Barcelona, the BMW Motorrad riders were successful in the FIM CEV Superbike European Championship. And at the BMW Motorrad Track Days on the Nürburgring you have the opportunity to take to the track on the BMW S 1000 RR.
At the third race weekend of the 2015 FIM Sidecar World Championship (SWC) in Grobnik, Croatia, two races were scheduled for the teams. On Saturday there was a ten-lap sprint, and on Sunday there was a "Gold" race of 18 laps. Full points were awarded for both races.
The spectators experienced extremely gripping battles for podium places in both races. The Finnish BMW duo of Pekka Päivärinta/Kirsi Kainulainen (44-Racing) secured second place in both races. Uwe Gürck and Manfred Wechselberger (Polizei Sport Verein Wels) crossed the finish line in fourth place with their BMW Gespann in both races. Päivärinta/Kainulainen defended their overall lead in the world championship. The next race will be held at the Pannoniaring in Hungary this weekend.
The Alpe Adria Road Racing Championship (AARR) also stopped off in Grobnik at the weekend. Roland Resch (Reitwagen-Racing) on his BMW S 1000 RR celebrated his fourth victory of the season in the Superbike class (AARR SBK). He rode onto the podium in third place in race one and won the second race. Lukáš Pešek (BMW Motorrad Czech) also climbed onto the podium – finishing third in the second race. Pešek finished fourth in race one. His team-mate Martin Choy crossed the finish line in fifth and sixth, Janez Prosenik (BMW AMD TREBNJE) finished the races in ninth and fourth place.
There was also a one-two result for the BMW S 1000 RR in the Superstock class (AARR STK). Michal Šembera (WILLI Race Team) won the second race with an advantage of 20 seconds, Michal Prášek (Rohac and Fejta Motoracing Team) finished second. Krasen Kanchev (AIT Racing Team) and Michal Fojtik (Exteria Racing) also rode into the top ten in fourth and ninth. In the first race, which was held in wet conditions, Prášek crossed the line in fourth, Šembera in fifth and Kanchev in seventh.
The third race in the 2015 FIM CEV Superbike European Championship (CEV) was held at the Circuit de Catalunya, near the Spanish metropolis of Barcelona. The BMW S 1000 RR made it onto the podium once again. BMW Motorrad privateer Iván Silva (Targobank Motorsport) came second and moved up into third place in the overall standings of the championship. Adrian Bonastre on the RR of Boxmotos.com EasyRace SBK Team finished fourth.
Eeki Kuparinen (Motomarket Racing) was sixth overall to cross the finish line and finished second in the privateer classification (CEV AM). His team-mates Höglund and Ricardo Mateus Marinho Lopes, who finished 14th and 15th, also picked up points for the privateer classification. In the overall classification they finished in 19th and 20th.

The 2015 BMW Motorrad Track Days take place at the Nürburgring on 9th and 10th July. You will experience the fantastic feeling of racing, take to the track on the BMW S 1000 RR and two-time Superbike World Champion Troy Corser will show you the racing line.
