Nogaro, France, 27/04/2016, BMW Motorrad Race Trophy BMW Motorrad Motorsport
The French Superbike Championship (FSBK) entourage headed into the deep south-west of the country last weekend: The second race event of the 2016 season was held in Nogaro, in the heart of Gascony. Kenny Foray on his Tecmas Racing BMW S 1000 RR finished on the podium again in the first race. In the second race he delighted the 13,600 spectators with a spirited pursuit and finished in fourth place.
After finishing in second place at the opener in Le Mans in March, Foray got to spray champagne on the podium again in Nogaro. In the first of the two races, which had to be stopped and restarted after another rider fell, the Tecmas Racing BMW rider finished in third place. “This podium position was important and I think that this was the best-possible result for us this time,” he summed up.
In race two, Foray aimed for another podium finish, but: “Unfortunately I made a minor error at the start and dropped down into 20th place in the first turn.” From there, the Frenchman set off on his mission to move up the field. He even got the fastest lap time on his BMW S 1000 RR on the fifth lap with a time of 1:28.802 minutes for the 3.636 kilometre track. After eight laps he was already back in fourth place, but by this point the top three were too far ahead. So Foray ended his pursuit straight through the field in fourth place.
In addition to Foray, two other BMW riders contested the FSBK races in Nogaro; his young team-mate Maxime Bonnot and Cyprien Schmidt, who raced on a Superstock version of the RR. Schmidt ended the two races in 21st and 16th. Bonnot, who in 2016 is completing a year of training in the FSBK as a rookie in Tecmas Racing, finished 30th in the first race and retired early from the second race after a fall.
