New personnel details have emerged from the British Superbike Championship BSB: After Tyco BMW has already presented its line-up, consisting of Michael Laverty, Christian Iddon (both BSB SBK), Josh Elliott (BSB STK) and Ian Hutchinson (road racing and BSB STK), a further two BMW teams have now announced their riders for the 2016 season.
Buildbase BMW is putting its faith in proven performers: confirmation came at the end of last season that Lee Jackson would continue to ride for team manager Steve Hicken’s outfit. It has now also been confirmed that he will race alongside the same team-mate: Richard Cooper. The 33-year-old joined the team during the 2015 season and ended the year eighth in the overall standings. Jackson and Cooper will compete in the Superbike class of the BSB (BSB SBK) on their Buildbase BMW S 1000 RRs.
Buildbase BMW will also be represented by one rider in the Superstock class (BSB STK). 22-year-old newcomer Taylor Mackenzie will take his place on the grid on the RR.
Alastair Seeley had, for a long time, been expected to switch to the team of Lee Hardy Racing, RAF BMW, in 2016. This move has now officially been confirmed. The 36-year-old, who finished second overall in the Superstock class with Tyco BMW last season, will line up on the RAF RR in the Superbike class of this season’s BSB. Seeley will also take part in the famous North West 200 with RAF BMW in May. Last year, he claimed one victory and a second place on the RR at this classic road race.
