The “Sepang International Circuit” hosted the season finale of the 2015 Malaysia Superbike Championship at the weekend. The BMW privateers picked up multiple podium positions in their respective classes. In the first race in the Superstock class, Nasarudin Mat Yusop finished second on his BMW Malaysia S 1000 RR, which saw him claim the second spot on the podium in both the overall classification and Superstock class A. In the Superbike category races, Ahmad Abas finished in sixth and seventh overall on his BMW S 1000 RR. This saw him clinch second place in Superbike class B in both races.
The MSC races in Sepang and the Macau Grand Prix were the final events in the evaluation period for the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy, which ended on Sunday 22nd November. However, the rankings have not yet been finalised. The competitors will now be awarded bonus points for titles won and pole positions, among other things. The final rankings of the 2015 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy will be announced this Saturday (28th November) at the 2015 BMW Motorrad Motorsport season finale in Munich.
In the International German Championship SUPERBIKE*IDM (IDM), the BMW customer teams are preparing for the coming season. The first rider contracts for 2016 have been concluded.
Champion Markus Reiterberger has left the IDM and will contest the FIM World Superbike Championship (WSBK) next year. His previous team Van Zon-Remeha-BMW has now found a successor for the man from Bavaria: The team headed by Werner Daemen will field Mathieu Gines in the upcoming season of the Superbike class (IDM SBK). The 27-year-old Frenchman made his IDM debut in the Superstock class (IDM STK) in 2015 and clinched the champion's title at the first time of asking.
In the Superstock class, Van Zon-Remeha-BMW will field two BMW S 1000 RRs; one for the 2014 champion Marco Nekvasil, and one for rookie Jan Bühn.
Meanwhile, Wilbers-BMW-Racing has signed Australian Jed Metcher. He will be in action on the Wilbers BMW S 1000 RR in the Superbike class. Metcher was the 2011 Superstock-600 European champion; last season he contested the British Superbike Championship (BSB).
