The BMW racers dominate in Canada

BMW riders continue to dominate the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK). They picked up top-three and top-four results at the Atlantic Motorsport Park. Jordan Szoke won both races, Samuel Trepanier and Ben Young also finished on the podium.

The British Superbike Championship (BSB) stopped off at Brands Hatch at the weekend, where Keith Farmer and Alex Olsen picked up two podiums each in the Superstock class (BSB STK). In the SuperBike Series Brasil (BRSBK), Alex Barros clinched a podium in São Paulo. You can find all results of the weekend in an overview below.

Canadian Superbike Championship at the Atlantic Motorsport Park, Canada

In the Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) at the weekend, BMW racers continue to set the pace. Two races were held at the fourth and penultimate event of the season, at the Atlantic Motorsport Park – ending with top-three and top-four results for the BMW S 1000 RR. Record champion Jordan Szoke (Mopar Express Lane BMW Superbike Team) continued his winning streak, finishing first in both races and taking a huge step towards winning his 13th title in the CSBK.

In race one, starting from pole position, Szoke celebrated a clear start-to-finish victory. He finished with a lead of around four seconds over his second-placed fellow BMW rider Ben Young (Ben Young Racing). Third place on the podium went to Samuel Trepanier (Blysk Racing).

The second race was a real thriller. Szoke and Trepanier delivered a gripping duel for the win at the front. Trepanier pulled off a plucky manoeuvre to overtake the record champion and take the lead, but made a mistake shortly before the chequered flag. Szoke pounced on the error to clinch his next win with a lead of one thousandth of a second. Finishing in second place, Trepanier equalled his best CSBK result to date. Young finished third, making it onto the podium again, and Michael Leon (Royal Distributing Racing Team) rounded off the BMW top-four result. The season finale, with two more races, will be held at Bowmanville in mid-August.

Jordan Szoke:

“It’s really awesome to come out on top because we’ve all been working really hard. In race two, Sam pulled off a great pass and I thought maybe he was going to take off, but he made a small mistake there and when you get a chance like that you have to take it. These guys pushed me 100% to my limit, I didn’t slow down at all. This track is just so difficult, but I guess I didn’t do too bad for an old man.”

British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, Great Britain

The sixth race weekend on the British Superbike Championship (BSB) calendar was held on Britain’s long Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit. Christian Iddon (Tyco BMW Motorrad) was the best BMW rider in both Superbike class (BSB SBK) races. He was in podium contention for much of the first race, ultimately crossing the finish line in fifth place. Iddon finished sixth in race two. Peter Hickman (Smiths Racing BMW) finished in sixth and tenth places. Iddon’s team-mate Michael Laverty finished the two races in tenth and eleventh.

In the Superstock class (BSB STK), three races were held at Brands Hatch: two consecutive races on Saturday, with half the number of points being awarded for each race, and one on Sunday. In the first race on Saturday, Keith Farmer (Tyco BMW Motorrad) finished second on the podium. In race two, Farmer set the fastest lap before retiring but ASTRO – JJR Racing’s Alex Olsen represented BMW on the podium, in third place. In race three on Sunday, both riders finished on the podium: Farmer was second again with Olsen in third. Farmer retains the lead in the championship standings.

MotoAmerica at Utah Motorsports Campus, USA

The MotoAmerica (MA) was at the Utah Motorsports Campus at the weekend. In the two Superbike class (MA SBK) races, BMW rider Danny Eslick (Scheibe Racing) finished in eighth and seventh places. In the Superstock class (MA STK) race, Chad Swain (Hustle Hard Racing) in fourth was the best-placed BMW rider. Jeremy Coffey (Superbike Underground) was right behind him, in fifth place. Travis Wyman (Weir Everywhere Racing) was seventh. Wyman is currently in second place in the championship standings.

SuperBike Series Brasil in São Paulo, Brazil

The SuperBike Series Brasil (BRSBK) returned to São Paulo. The series held two races this weekend, for which the BMW S 1000 RR secured a podium position. Veteran Alex Barros (Alex Barros Racing) finished in second place in race two.
